Overview
Skyflower is an app for a drone-based flower delivery service. The challenge was to design an experience that made cutting-edge drone technology feel safe, intuitive, and approachable, while addressing public concerns about trust, reliability, and complexity.
The Problem
Despite the efficiency of drone delivery, many users were hesitant to trust it. Concerns ranged from safety and reliability to a lack of transparency in pricing and tracking. To make drone delivery widely accepted, the user experience needed to instill confidence and simplify the process.
The Solution
To address these concerns, I conducted user research with 20+ participants to understand the psychological barriers to drone delivery. Using these insights, I designed a seamless, end-to-end ordering experience that included:
To further humanize the experience, I introduced Zippy, a friendly mascot, designed to reduce anxiety and make interactions feel more approachable. Usability testing revealed that Zippy helped users feel more confident using the app.
The Results
Through iterative design and internal testing, we validated key improvements.
51%
Navigation success rate improved by 51%, ensuring a smooth user journey from selection to checkout.
1.4x
Users rated trust in drone delivery 2x higher after interacting with reassuring UI elements.
35%
Order placement time decreased by 22% after refining the checkout flow.
This project highlights my ability to translate complex technology into intuitive, human-centered experiences through research, testing, and iterative design—aligning with Dropbox’s focus on trust, privacy, and seamless user interactions.
